12/05/2011 Family Bricks Brings in the Big Guns During a Visit to ToyWiz/BrickArsenal!Hey guys, I just wanted to take a moment and post this picture of my 2 newest figures (and guns). You see Josh (Family Bricks) was in town and came to visit our hectic/insane/crazy offices and took pity on me. You see I have 3 BrickArms and only a handful of minifigs (all Greeks/Gladiator types). Well needless to say these two are amazing. Josh's ability with both design, presentation and painting ability come together to make some of the most combat-ready figures I've ever seen. They look great in a picture they are simply amazing in person. The detail is mind-boggling. I had to share these with you all and you'll certainly see them in my pictures in the future. A TREMENDOUS thanks to Family Bricks (Josh) for coming out to see me and the rest of the crew it was a huge treat and it was a great time! He is as kind as he is talented. -JD 12/02/2011 Gladiator Contest Results Are In! Thank you so much to everyone who entered here. This was one amazing contest guys - our first ever on Flickr, and wow! We were overwhelmed with the results! In addition to the entries here, we have some that entered on the BrickArms forums too. As you probably know, we have 5 equal prizes, so this isn't the usual First-Second-Third style you're accustomed to - they're just all-in! I also have some personal favorites that didn't make the final grade. All in all, we managed to agree on 9 winners but were forced to cut it to these 5: Wimbe, you came out early and strong with this one. There are just so many clever details here, from the bleeding guy in the background, to every spectator in the stands...everything came together beautifully in the build and the photograph. Magus the Mando, you've established yourself as a master of lighting with your builds. Always clean and polished, the Blood Arena was a perfect way to showcase your signature style. The_Custom_One© (Brony!) - You did a beautiful job on this build (even if is seriously lacking in ponies). Kudos to you for historical accuracy, lots of blood and extra decapitated heads and hacked-off limbs! The_Flash98 - this is really brilliant. Building on multiple levels, including the action of the kill *and* the blase attitude of the royal spectators made for a great scene. TheBricks - what can I say? How did you make Lego look SO futuristic and shiny? It's a great build and well-photographed as well. So a huge congratulations to all the winners and a thank you to all who entered! 12/01/2011 New ZOMBIE PACK is in, with the custom head by CYGNET from our Zombie Pack contest!
